Habitat Hillsborough’s first CEO Build begins construction on home for a local family.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — February 21, 2022– Habitat Hillsborough’s first annual “CEO Build” kicked off February 18th with nearly 40 CEOs and C-Suite executives from Tampa Bay businesses and organizations who came together to build a forever home for a local family in need of affordable housing. The C-Suite executives who volunteered at the Habitat build site raised the roof trusses of the Temple Terrace home. In addition to volunteering on the build site, the CEO Build participants are each donating funds to help underwrite construction materials for the home, which is being built for the Reyes family.

The CEO Build celebrates the impactful power of corporate leaders by providing the opportunity to harness that power to make a difference in their community by helping stabilize a local family through affordable homeownership. In addition to the individual participants, several businesses are supporting the CEO Build with corporate sponsorships including: Tampa Bay Business Journal, TMC Bank, American Social Bar & Kitchen, Hancock Whitney, Strobel Design|Build, Fifth Third Bank, Republic Bank, WCC Business Solutions, Crabby Bills Family Brands, Tampa Housing Authority, Bank of America, Lions Eye Institute, Rice Financial, Rizzetta & Company, Third Lake Design and Whitney Logistics. Special thanks to the City of Temple Terrace for their support of our mission.

Kristina Reyes works full time for the administrative staff at Hillsborough Community College and is raising her two young grandchildren who were recently entrusted to her care. The Habitat home being constructed by the CEO Build will provide an affordable mortgage that will help stabilize the Reyes family financially and provide a secure home for her grandchildren as she helps them overcome some traumatic events.

Kristina is grateful to Habitat and the CEO Build partners, donors and volunteers who are helping her build her “forever” home.

“Thank you for being a huge part of creating peace and security for me and my grandkids,” said Kristina. “Your time and sacrifice is truly helping two amazing kids and a grandma who doesn’t want to worry about her next move.”
