Update on Suspended Volunteer Activities Due to Covid19

Greetings to our Habitat Hillsborough Volunteer Family,

The pandemic has definitely had an impact on 2020, creating challenges in many aspects of all our lives and communities.  But Habitat for Humanity has risen to the many challenges facing our organization by finding ways to continue to build, because now more than ever, having safe and affordable shelter is important.  We do miss all of you though.  I have always referred to our volunteers as the “life blood” of the organization.  It is the volunteers who make the work we do so exciting.  You show the community what it means to work together and give every Habitat homeowner hope for a better future.  I can’t thank you enough for that and for your commitment to our organization.

I’m sorry we haven’t been able to open volunteer opportunities yet.  We are concerned for everyone’s health and safety.  Rest assured, when we are able to have volunteers onsite again, there will be protocols in place to reduce the risk to your health.

If you haven’t liked us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, please do.  We communicate through social media a lot.  Also, you can find us on YouTube (Habitat Hillsborough FL) where we have posted videos of our recent dedications since we are unable to have the in-person dedications we are used to.  You can also find messages about how Habitat for Humanity helps to narrow the wealth gap and how you can help us by joining our Carpenters Circle.  We are trying to provide all of you with information through social media so you can see that the mission of Habitat for Humanity lives on in spite of the issues we face as a nation.

When the time comes that we can safely reopen our sites to volunteers, you will definitely hear from us and I hope you will all be back to continue changing lives through affordable homeownership.

Blessings for health and happiness,

Tina Swain, CEO
