COVID-19 Update regarding the status of Habitat Hillsborough

Please Note: After two months of being temporarily closed, we cautiously reopened our ReStores in June and continue to follow CDC, state and local public health guidelines.

Dear Habitat Supporters,

As we face this unprecedented challenge, I wanted to reach out to our Habitat Hillsborough friends and wish each of you good health, safety and security.

We are all going to be impacted by this pandemic both professionally and personally. However, as we scramble to do what is best for the people around us, I want you all to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and you are not alone.

I also want to give you an update regarding the status of Habitat Hillsborough. As our public health officials are working hard to stop the expansion of COVID-19, we have been working through the best way to do our part to slow the pandemic. With that in mind, we have made the decision to close our ReStores from March 23rd – May 3rd. Donation pick-ups are being cancelled until further notice, however, our Salvage Services will still be available. We have also closed our construction sites to volunteers until further notice and have our administrative personnel working remotely from their homes.

Unfortunately, the pandemic does not stop the need for affordable housing; in fact, it will likely exacerbate the problem. We hope you will join us when it is time to start building again, but in the meantime, we must do our civic duty and follow the guidance for social distancing to slow the spread of the virus and keep our community safe. We will update our website so everyone knows when we begin scheduling volunteers and donation pickups. During and after this crisis, we will need the support of our family, friends, volunteers, donors and our local government to continue the work toward the dream of “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”

Blessings,

Tina Swain
