Breaking Ground on More Homes

Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County recently broke ground on two additional homes in the City of Tampa.  Located in the Lowry Park Central neighborhood, the homes are being constructed in partnership with the Robinson and Barr homeowner candidates.  Each homeowner candidate family will contribute more than 300 hours of “sweat equity” building together with volunteers and subcontractors.

Both homes will feature masonry construction and aesthetically attractive durable finishes.  The homes will receive Energy Star and Florida Water Star certification.  Ron Johnson, Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County Vice President of Construction commented on the approach to durable construction: “We are committed to building homes with lasting quality and long-term sustainability.  These design and construction practices yield lower insurance and utility bills for homeowners.  This quality approach increases the strength, stability and self-reliance that homeowner candidates gain through purchasing a Habitat for Humanity home”.

Persons interested in volunteering to help construct the two homes can sign up here.  Let’s Build!
