Habitat Hillsborough’s Home Preservation Program Receives a Makeover

Makeovers can do wonders – for people and for programs! The Home Preservation Program, formerly A Brush With Kindness or ABWK, received a makeover in the way the program is administered so that Habitat Hillsborough can serve more residents throughout the county. In the past, ABWK activities were one-time events, with funding focused on a particular day.  To increase capacity, Habitat Hillsborough recently established a Home Preservation Fund – a source of ongoing home preservation funding which will provide more volunteer opportunities and more housing solutions in Hillsborough County.

The Habitat Hillsborough Home Preservation program provides minor exterior home repairs, painting and landscaping to income-eligible homeowners throughout Hillsborough County.

Red Vector helped establish the Home Preservation Fund (HPF), and Keller Williams has been a wonderful HPF donor. In our new fiscal year, beginning July 1, 2016, Habitat Hillsborough plans to serve 25 homeowners through the Home Preservation Program. SOHO cycling will help make this level of service possible by donating $2,100 to the HPF. Because of the generous support of our donors and volunteers, Habitat Hillsborough will be able to strengthen our community and empower area homeowners.
